About Always Learning
#AlwaysLearning, JoEllen McCarthy is a dedicated educator for 20+ years. She spends her days teaching and learning collaboratively alongside learners (students, teachers and administrators) in schools and districts to support best practices in literacy instruction, as well as student-centered collaborative coaching cycles that impact professional learning communities. JoEllen spreads her enthusiasm for learning and literature using picture books as co-teachers to support literacy strategies and layer in conversations that also help contribute to caring classroom communities. JoEllen is the Educator Collaborative's Book Ambassador and works to spread book love daily. As a national consultant she presents at various workshops and visit classrooms across the country.
JoEllen holds degrees from Loyola, Maryland, NYU, and an administrative degree specializing in staff development from Hofstra. A true believer in the power of collaborating and sharing, JoEllen uses Twitter as an online literacy lounge to share “literacy snapshots” and “#pdlove” to grow ideas and celebrate literacy and learning in action. She is currently working on a professional book with Stenhouse on the Power of Read Alouds for Literacy and Life Lessons. JoEllen can be found tweeting literacy snapshots, book titles and more at @JoEllenMcCarthy. She is also one of the founders of nErDcampLI celebrating it's fifth annual event this year!
